Smart Monkey

Smart Monkey

The black-and-white colobuses are, in my opinion, not the most charming monkeys in Uganda, but I find them extremely fascinating. This is mainly due to their gazes, with which they look into the void under their prominent foreheads, giving the impression of being lost in deep thought. They also have exceptionally long massive tails with white pom-poms on the end, which surprisingly do not make them immobile at all. At one of the crater lakes south of Fort Portal, the forests were full of them and they jumped long distances from tree to tree. I spent hours observing and photographing these magnificent animals, but have no clue as to what they may be contemplating.
