Huayna Potosí (6088m)

If you want to climb a six-thousand-meter high peak from La Paz, it is relatively simple, since the city already lies at an altitude of about four-thousand meters. In only two days I could therefore climb Huayna Potosí, the local mountain of La Paz. On the final day of the hike, I set out with my group long before dawn at the Refugio Alta Roca to cover the last 900 meters of altitude over deeply snow-covered glacier ice. From the summit, I had an incredible view of all the Cordillera Real mountains at sunrise.
