Facade Art

The Palacio Salvo at Plaza Independencia is considered the landmark of Montevideo. As magnificent as the Art Deco building is, I was almost more impressed by the Edificio Ciudadela opposite, a residential building from the construction boom of the 1950s. Its facade, with its hundreds of air-conditioning units and variously weathered glass elements, creates an artistic pattern, in the middle of which I discovered a special view of the Palacio Salvo.
