Sense for Detail

I came to appreciate the front gardens of many Southeast Asian homes during my travels, simply because they are so rich in lovingly designed details. Whether decorated with special plantings, handwritten signs, Buddha figurines, spirit houses, or various offerings, regardless of the wealth of the inhabitants, they usually seemed to have a knack for making the entrance to their dwellings harmonious in a special way. On my many walks through Thai settlements, I enjoyed discovering the many details and being enchanted by their aura, although I never figured out what the beautifully curved characters meant.
