About me

Hello, welcome to my website!

I am Guido Narberhaus, was born in Aachen in 1975, grew up later near Cologne and moved to Berlin in the mid-nineties to study, where I have lived ever since. From the beginning I liked the life in this fascinating city very much, nevertheless I was drawn again and again, mostly alone, into the distant world.

When I was twenty-two, I started traveling alone, and that first trip to Guatemala did something to me that steered my whole life in a certain direction. First, there was that ever-present pull of distance that moved me to take another solo trip every few years. Each time my travels became longer and my experiences more intense. But not only that changed – above all, my everyday life in Berlin changed after each of these trips, simply because I understood myself and my life better and better and was able to draw my consequences from that.

Today, I work as a physics and mathematics teacher at a Berlin high school and train physics teachers being the director in a specialist seminar – but that’s just my work. In the meantime, I also have time for other important things in my life – for example, writing. I found this passion during my last long journey, when – half a year before the pandemic – I traveled the world for two years. At the end of February 2021, I finally published my first book “Soloreise – vom Abenteuer, dem Ruf der Freiheit zu folgen”, which is currently being translated into English.
