Pure Argentina

Pure Argentina

It was the first almost-seven-thousander I had seen in my life. Cerro Aconcagua is the highest mountain on earth outside of Asia, and I thought it kind of showed. As I approached the gigantic mountain massif, I heard from various travelers that the landscape had served as a backdrop for the movie “Seven Years in Tibet” since Tibet had been ruled out as a filming location for political reasons. I came to experience Argentina and found it absurd to compare it with the Tibetan landscape, especially while enjoying bife de chorizo over good wine that evening in Mendoza.
