Snapshot

When I’m traveling alone, one of my favorite activities is the photo walk. My only goal in this pursuit is to find interesting photo subjects that reflect the spirit of the moment as well as possible. Kathmandu was one of the most exciting places for such forays. When I spotted a street vendor in front of his store in the central Thamel district, permanently goking at females passing by, I positioned myself to be ready for a snapshot at the appropriate moment. While a well-dressed woman in a red sweater approached from the left, I looked down at the panning display of my camera and pulled the trigger perfectly. Only later did I realize with delight that the salesman had given additional expression to his admiration by running his tongue along his upper lip.
